CODAC Behavioral Healthcare has opened its second mobile medical van, now stationed in the parking lot at Wood River Health's facility at 823 Main St. in Hopkinton, to expand access to substance use disorder treatment for Washington County residents. Launched Aug. 17, the unit operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 10 a.m., providing methadone and buprenorphine along with counseling and general health screenings, including blood pressure checks, glucose readings, and mental health screenings. The van is staffed by a peer recovery specialist and a nurse, with a doctor on site two to three times a week — giving people who face transportation barriers a closer option for treatment.
CODAC, founded in 1971, operates seven community-based treatment locations across Rhode Island, including in Cranston, Providence, Warwick, and Newport, and also runs a mobile van serving Woonsocket.
